| Process modelling and simulation |
 |
| We are still far away from fully understanding the physical and chemical mechanisms relevant in wood-based panel manufacture, as many of them are rather complex. Simulation tools would be very helpful to increase our basic understanding of these processes, to develop new and optimize existing processes, and for training purposes. Processes of interest are fibre, flake and strand drying, blending, mat forming, pre-heating, hot pressing, and others. |

| Overall Ranking: |
| Ranking*: | 4 | | *) Explanation | The rank denotes the importance the voters have attached to a topic. A small rank indicates great importance. The following code is used to calculate the rank: For each vote points are given according to the importance of the topic denoted by the voter (5 points for "essential", 1 point for "slight interest"). To reduce the weight of old votes those votes older than 1 year (2 years) are multiplied by the factor 0.5 (0.25). Votes older than 3 years are not counted anymore. |
