| Developing panels for outside applications |
 |
| The use of wood-based panels for outside applications is still limited. Reducing the water uptake of the panels and improving their dimensional stability, their resistance against fungal attack and against UV-light would open huge new markets for wood-based panels. However, considerable research efforts and break-through innovations are necessary to reach such goal. |

| Overall Ranking: |
| Ranking*: | 6 | | *) Explanation | The rank denotes the importance the voters have attached to a topic. A small rank indicates great importance. The following code is used to calculate the rank: For each vote points are given according to the importance of the topic denoted by the voter (5 points for "essential", 1 point for "slight interest"). To reduce the weight of old votes those votes older than 1 year (2 years) are multiplied by the factor 0.5 (0.25). Votes older than 3 years are not counted anymore. |
